A Festive Gathering – Celebrating Denver Chinese School’s 20th Anniversary

In observance of Denver Chinese School’s 20th anniversary, on June 30th, 2018, Chinese Coloradans gathered at the Centennial Center Park for an exuberant celebration.
School Committee members worked closely together to ensure an unruffled event. Student Council members, with a generous donation from Ms. Liting Li, organized a fun fund raising event to support the school. Students’ efforts and energy were greeted by warm support. Mr. Junwei Liu and Ms. Just He joyfully exchanged a snack bar with $100.
Parent volunteers went busily about with different chores, registering new students who enjoy an extended early bird registration discount, setting up the audio systems, and laying out food for a lavish dinner with signature dishes from each family. Shanghai Kitchen and Sunflower Asian Bistro also offered delectable dishes to wish the event a big success. The air was filled with excitement. Even the sudden storm couldn’t damper the ferver.

Mr. Huiliang Liu reminisced the school’s growth and development in past 20 years. He pointed out that persistence and perseverance had been the keys to Denver Chinese School’s incredible accomplishments. 16 years of hosting Colorado’s biggest Colorado Chinese New Year Celebrations has earned Denver Chinese School reputation and respect from across the nation.
The principals from the three campuses also addressed the crowd。Ms. Xiuping Wang expressed sincere appreciation for school committee members and volunteers for their selfless efforts to relentlessly create new opportunities for the school and the Chinese community, and to work industriously to carry out the school agenda.
Despite the chill brought forth by the storm, students and StepIntoMelody dancers performed beautiful dances. Ms. Yueling Yu’s spirited song Plateau Tibet was very inspirational. Ms. Yuhong Qi, a former DCS principal, beloved Chinese teacher, and most admired Colorado Chinese New Year Celebration host hosted the Chinese Culture Knowledge Contest. Parents and children participated in a heated race and many claimed prizes provided by Mr. Yan Zhao. Ms. Ning Zhuo then announced more exciting competitions, calling for Chinese writings and photographies with enticing prizes. All parents and students are welcome to send in their work on or before July 15th for Amazon gift cards. The beautiful moments ought to be captured in elegant writings and captivating pictures.
The celebration drew to an end with the vivacious Square Dance led by Ms. Yueling Yu. Ms. Yu’s energetic dance is always
a great sensation。
With the common goal of building the best platform for our children and with talents in all fields, Denver Chinese School will work together with the whole Chinese community and other communities to best serve the society. We genuinely wish Denver Chinese School, a cradle for knowledge and for values, a bright future.
