Asa child, Dr. Markowitz knew he was going to become a doctor. He used his own experiences through high school, college, and medical school to show the audience what it takes to become a doctor. From two year classroom studies, to numerous years of residency,
Dr. Markowitz illustrated the path of a medical school student while providing tips and tricks through the presentation.
Takeaways
-Get
good grades/participate in events during high school
-An
unrelated major (ex: history) can make you stand out
-Prepare
for the MCAT (test needed to get into medical school) and complete your medical school application portfolio(test scores, letters of recommendation, experience) early
-Although
medical school is hard, a person who earns a C is still called “Dr.”
Thanks
to Dr. Markowitz for this wonderful lecture. The information covered will definitely be useful for the future doctors at our school. Also, thanks to Ms. Yan and Ms. Dong for giving us this opportunity.
