Paleontologist Wang Haijun brought an intriguing presentation regarding dinosaurs to the teachers’ aides and parents of Denver Chinese School on the 17th of September.
Not only were the audience able to see many amazing and impactful pictures, they were also able to learn a lot about how fossils are found, how they are excavated, and the steps that follow, including transportation, sanitation, research, and reassembly/reconstruction. Although Mr. Wang is most familiar with the excavation and reassembly aspects of the process, he very carefully and thoughtfully fielded all questions regarding dinosaurs from the audience. At the end, Mr. Wang displayed and sold some of the small fossils he’d come across during his work.
We sincerely thank Mr. Wang Haijun for bringing us such an engaging talk! Much of the presentation would not have been found in a school classroom and this opportunity allowed us to learn new things and increase the breadth of our knowledge. Also, thanks to Ms. Yan and Ms. Dong for organizing this event!
